Introduction to Fashion Design

Topic: Adobe Illustrator

In this assignment, we have to draw 10 digital fashion illustrations and create a moodboard by using Adobe Illustrator. Ms. Maria taught us how to use Adobe Illustrator in the lecture. And, we also follow her step by step to create our design in the class.

First, we learned to create a face. We have to find a black&white portrait and use selection tools to draw the parts of the face out. Then we have to color it.

Below is my process to draw a face:

I also create a western face after the lecture.

Next, Ms. Maria guided us to draw a model body. We have to google a model body as a template before we start to draw.

Feedback by lecture:

Ms. Maria reminded me to adjust the skin opacity to 60%.

So, I adjusted the opacity of the skin and also create a new body(walking).

Below is my drawing process.

After that, Ms. Maria guided us to draw hair.

Feedback by lecture: 

For hairstyle 1, Ms. Maria said the hair flow need to be continuous. 

While other hairstyles look good.

Therefore, I slightly adjust the hair flow to make it looks better.

Then, we can start to create our fashion design. I choose to create this digital fashion illustration by using other designer's collections. I choose Badgley Mischka Spring 2020 collection. I also selected 10 designs from the collection as my template.

Feedback by lecture:

Ms. Maria suggested me to add some earrings or necklace for those model. And also, try to draw out the fold of the garment.

Reflection:

This is my first time using Adobe Illustrator to create a fashion collection. I enjoy doing this assignment because at first, I feel hard to use Adobe Illustrator but now I can create moodboard and fashion illustrator by using this app. I have learned a lot from this assignment. And also, I will practice and explore more to make my digital illustration look better.
