-FALLOUT: NUCLEAR RADIATION-

Moodboard
My collection, “Fallout” is inspired by the deep impact of nuclear radiation. It visually represents the destructive power of radiation and the resilience of humanity.

In a world marked by nuclear events, “Fallout” aims to raise awareness about the long-lasting effects on both the environment and our lives. The collection urges us to consider the far-reaching impact of radiation and emphasizes the need for sustainable living.

The core message of this collection is the importance of sustainable living in a world that has been touched by radiation. It is a call to action, urging us to rethink our choices and prioritize responsible, eco-conscious living. The collection encourages us to embrace the strength of the human spirit and adapt to the challenges of a radiation-affected world, promoting a more sustainable and aware lifestyle.

Japan release Radioactive water into the sea since 2023

"Fallout" draws inspiration from Japan's release of nuclear water into the ocean, a measure taken to safely manage the contaminated water after the 2011 Fukushima disaster. While this decision was made to prevent further accidents, it poses significant risks, as nuclear radiation is highly harmful to both humans and the environment.

Searching inspiration from the HAZMAT SUIT, what they wear in the power plant station to protect themselves from nuclear radiation. I found some interesting silhouettes, like oxygen pipes, full masks, helmets, the hazmat suit that looks like plastic/PVC material, etc. Besides that, I also do research on the effect of nuclear radiation on humans.

Based on the research, I brainstormed some ideas for fabric manipulation for my collection:

With all these ideas, I start to develop my design:

----------------------------------FINAL ILLUSTRATION--------------------------------
This collection draws inspiration from nuclear radiation, exploring its penetrating and transformative effects. Layered sheer fabric symbolizes penetration. The designs feature a blend of deconstruction and clean, neat styles, creating a striking contrast. Belt loops are also included to evoke warning lines, adding subtle yet powerful details.
