Lecture 1: Introduction

Mr. Riza showed us the tool that we need during paper cutting and pattern making.
From the lecture, I learn the types of fabrics and properties. We have to choose suitable fabrics for our design depends on the properties.

Quick Task : 

Search 5 different characters of clothes in your wardrobe, identify the types of material and describe the material's properties.

Here are the clothes I found in my wardrobe with different types of material or fabrics :

1. KNITTED COTTON

  

• Natural hollow fibers
• Soft and comfortable to wear
• Absords water and 'breathes' 

2. POLYESTER 

• Thin and lightweight fibric
• Strong and durable
• Wrinkle resistant 

 

3. CHIFFON

• Lightweight 
• Semi-transparent  
• slight stretch 

4. DENIM 

• Soft and comfortable to wear
• Absords water and dye easily 
• Durable and does not tear easily

 

5. LACE

• Made of yarn
• Sheer and delicate fibric 
• Use to decorate garment
