Topic: Capsule collection- Essential Fashion
For this final project, we will design our first capsule collection. The final project requires students to pick 4 garment pieces and produce prototype/toile from the "Essential Fashion' collection. The "Essential items mean the mush have items in consumer wardrobe and can be easily transformed and matched to follow the recent trends.

Below is the pattern drafting process and toile/garment making process for Look 1.

Patchwork top:

Cut out the pattern in Calico Fabric

Iron interfacing to collar patterns

Sew all the patterns together

Result of patchwork top in Toile:

Everything looks good so I start to make it in actual fabrics.

Sew all the patterns together and overlock the seam
Iron collar pattern with interfacing then attach to the bodice's neckline
Last, hand sewing the white buttons

Result of patchwork top in actual garment:
front
back

Pleated skirt+short pants:
Next, I'm going to make the toile of the pleated skirt and short pants.
I found a pleated skirt tutorial, so I refer to the picture to make the pleated skirt.

I cut the Calico fabric in (75x40)cm, then I mark the pleat's length and pin them nicely
Iron the pleat nicely
I draft the pants pattern
Cut out the fabrics
I sew a zip at the opening
Sew all the darts then attach all the pants pieces together

Result of pleated skirt+pants in toile (without waistband):

I think is ok, so I begin to make the actual garment.
Cut out the actual fabrics and waistband.
Pin the pleats then iron it nicely.
cut the pants pattern in the actual fabric
sew all the darts
attach pants pieces together
Attach the pleated skirt to pants.

Sewing waistband

Hand sewing metal buttons and buttonholes

Result of the pleated skirt+pants in actual garment:

Overall look on mannequin:

Below is the drafting process and toile/garment making process for Look 2.

Oversize T-shirt:
First, I make the oversize t-shirt.
I direct make it in actual garment since I think it is simple.
I draft the pattern of oversize t-shirt on Mahjong paper.

Cut out the pattern in the actual fabric, then sew and overlock the seam.

Pin the neckline fabric then sew and overlock.

Result of oversize t-shirt in actual garment:

Ruffle top:

The drafting process for ruffle top.

Since the pattern is not fit on the mannequin, Mr. Riza guide me to make the pattern into panels.

I draw new stripe

Cut out the panels in Calico fabric

Sew the panel pieces together

Now the fabric is fit on the front and back of the mannequin.

Ruffle part sewing process:
do the gather

Sew it with the panel top

Result of ruffle top in Toile:

Then, I start to make the ruffle top garment.

Cut out the final pattern in the actual fabric
overlock all the panels and stripe
Sew them together
iron the seam nicely
Repeat the steps to make the lining with the same fabric.
Then attach the top of the front panel top and lining
sew topstitch to make the seam secure at the lining side

For the ruffle part, I cut the fabric in (10x16)cm

Sew all the fabric pieces one by one and overlock the seam
do the gather
Attach the ruffle part to the top
Sew the ruffle part's bottom seam allowance
Hand sewing to hide the seam and also sew the snap button at the opening

Result of the ruffle top in garment:
