 -Week 1~Week 5-

Introduction to Pattern Technology

Topic: Shirt Block Making by using Modaris software

-Week 1-
This week, Mr. Riza briefed us about the module booklet and assignment 1. He also slightly briefed us about what we have to do on other assignments.
Basically, in the first assignment, we have to create shirt block by using Modaris software.

-Week 2-
We start our lesson this week. Mr. Riza guided us step by step to create the Shirt block.
There are a few steps we have to do when we open Modaris software.
Firstly, set the access path to our file and set the scale in cm.
Then, click the image and go to F7 to import EVT which can be either numeric (size 8,10,12,14,16...) or alpha (size XS,S, M, L,XL...). In this assignment, we choose to import numeric.

After that, we start to create a shirt block by using straight line, add point, relative point, division in F1 and arc arrow (draw curve line), notch, orientation (to change the direction of notches) in F2. We refer to the basic top guide to create patterns in Modaris.

Done all the basic shirt patterns.

-Week 3-
We continue to work on working pattern.
Before we select the pattern pieces, we have to do marking (in F2) on darts and notches. So that, the duplicated pattern that we select will have marking on it. Then we can go F4 select seam to duplicate the working pattern and click line seam to add seam allowances.

Add seam for all the working patterns
Add grainline for all the working pattern

-Week 4-
This week we learn to add Grading (in F6). We can create other size pattern based on our original pattern by using Grading. This is quite useful for us because we no need to draw the pattern again.
Mr. Riza guided us how to do grading.

-Week 5-
This week, we learn to create size chart and variant for this Shirt block. We have to measure the shirt pattern(with Grading) and also do some calculations to fill in the size chart according to the body part.
Measuring the shirt size
Then we choose to show the title block, so we can edit the pattern's name and also add on some notes (this pattern cut how many pieces).
Edit pattern's name and mention how many pieces we need to cut for each pattern.

Then we go to F8 click variant and choose the final working pattern.
Variant
Lastly, edit the information to show the correct amount of pieces we should cut for each pattern.

Summary of the tools in Modaris:
F1- use to draw straight lines, add points and divide the line into equal lengths.
F2- use to draw curve lines, add notches, change the direction of notches, do marking and change the               orientation of pattern to different degrees.
F3- use for deletion and move the lines.
F4- use select the working pattern out from the master pattern/basic pattern block and add seam to the               working pattern.
F5- use to duplicate the pattern in mirror position to create a symmetrical pattern.
F6- use to do Grading and check the grading lines.
F7- use to import and delete EVT
F8- use for length measurement, add chart manager, marry and divorce a pattern, create variant.
